Necromunda 3.0: "Billy" Orlock Juve by The Ewing Workshop

Billy and his ever-twitching trigger fingers...

A little while back I posted a feature on the rather nice Orlock Heavy created by James Ewing of The Ewing Workshop after seeing it and being very impressed, and so this morning, when he shared some shots of his latest work in the same vein, I felt compelled to do the same.

Billy here is a typically hot-headed Juve, overly eager to get out there in the Underhive and make a name for himself among the more experienced gangers that he longs to emulate. James was kind enough to provide the following blurb for his character background:

"Billy has always dreamed of being in a gang.

His older brother Dredger has been in the Ash Rats for ages and has finally convinced Baby Jane (the gang leader and Dredger's lover) to give Billy a chance.

Billy fancies himself as a bit of a gunslinger, a pistol wielding desperado.

Truth is, he has never been in a fight in his life. He has no idea how the fear of true combat can make a man freeze, or how taking a life can change a man.

Let's hope he learns his lesson before it's too late."

R. Side - note the complexity and detail on the jacket in terms of the zipper and shoulder padding.

Back - again, the attention to detail on the jacket makes the model stand out, belt pouches adding coherence.

L. Side - splayed fingers tell the story of the mini's character very well.

L. Side 2 - hip holsters and pose capture quick-draw motion.

Armed with a pair of auto-pistols and a combat knife, James informs me that the legs for the mini came from a Space Marine Scout, the head, torso and arms from the Empire Free Company, the hands from a Frostgrave Cultist (another kit that I need to look into soon for parts), the combat knife was kitbashed and he's plain gone and forgotten just where the auto-pistols came from.

All of the greenstuff elements are, of course, sculpted by his own fair hand.

As always, check James's site out and give him some feedback on this mini, one that's sure to fit right in with the new Orlock boxed set that's due out at the end of the month, and let me know what you think in the comments section below.

  1. How has this post got no comments? Absolutely beautiful mini, I'd love to see a 'not Nikolai Dante' from the same sculptor!

  2. Thanks for being the first to actually comment!

My blog's fairly new, and there are many more talented sculptors and painters out there with already established blogs, so I'm trying to follow in their wake.

You really should check James's stuff out at his website or on FB, as he's definitely got something of a talent - I'm still awaiting his first independently cast sculpt with some anticipation.
