Far Corfe: Confrontation Elite Gang

The Elite Gang fan out to protect their employer's assets...
I don't know about anyone else, but ever since I saw the page of them that survived into the Citadel blue catalogue in the early 90s, the miniatures from the Confrontation range (the predecessor of what we now know as Necromunda) always manage to make my palms sweat.

Unfortunately they're not a cheap thing to try and collect, so I tend to find that I can only get my hands on them sporadically and in small numbers when the chance to grab a bargain presents itself on eBay or a similar platform.

It was only when I managed to land one of the Marauder Elite Gangers that I was struck by the way that his studded doublet and headscarf reminded me of the WHFB Empire Militia minis, and from there, the wheels began to turn...

Elite Ganger, Brat, Bounty Hunter & Elite Ganger #2
I was lucky enough to land a couple of similar minis along the way to making a gang out of them, including a Brat and Bounty Hunter, both of which were dressed in a way that was similar enough to have them fit in with the Elite Gangers quite easily.

Champion, Leader, Sniper & Make-shift Elite Ganger
Raiding my bits box, I was able to find enough Empire Militia and other parts to cobble together a couple of specialists and some pseudo-elites that would serve to make up the numbers and flesh out the ranks of the gang.

All in all, I think that the whole thing worked out quite well and the kit-bashed members of the gang blend pretty well with the actual minis from the old Confrontation range. I have no idea what they'd class as in the modern version of Necromunda, but then I've never been one to let the rules constrain me when it comes to making something that's more for the sake of being creative than a slave to the rules.

Well, what do you think?

Passable solution to wanting a Confrontation-era gang?

Or Frankenstien's Gangers?

Let me know, either on here or via social media.

  1. Nice to see a fully realised gang of Elites. It's a shame you don't have the leader with the dog, but he's tricky to get hold of! The plastic Militia work perfectly stylistically - were they Perry sculpts? I think the original Elite gangers were.

I think my favourites of the new quartet are the sniper and the ganger - if you didn't know the source, I reckon you'd be convinced they were original Elite sculpts.

In terms of modern rules for these guys, the weapons mix makes it a bit difficult to run as a starting House gang. I'd be tempted to use Venators, as essentially it allows access to almost any weapon you would like to use!

  2. Hey, man - venators was the original thing that I had in mind for them too. I'm never sure what the elite gangers are supposed to represent in terms of the Confrontation Lore, as their name is pretty vague!

I'm not sure if the Militia were sculpted by the Perrys or not, they were around in the mid 2,000's, and I think they might still be around today as part of the AOS range too.

Thanks for the compliments on the kit-bashed ganger and sniper - the Empire Flagellants and Skitarii kits are essential for this kind of thing!
